The Spyder is powered by a BRP Rotax 990 V-Twin 2 cylinder engine with a 998cc displacement. The Rotax V-Twin produces 79kW or 106HP and 104.3Nm of torque which propels the Spyder from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds and provides plenty of pulling power in any gear. The 990 is a liquid cooled DOHC with EFI. Power is put to the ground via a Kevlar-reinforced drive belt which is good for 70,000km. The gear box is a semi-automatic SE5 transmission with 5 forward gears and reverse, all controlled via a thumb and index finger push button control. Dynamic Power Steering is fitted which adjusts according to the speed of the bike. Tires and wheels are 165/65R14 up front with a 225/50R15 on the rear. The tires are specially developed by Kenda and run a soft compound with a soft sidewall and low tire pressure, only 15PSI for the fronts and 28PSI on the rear. EBD & ABS are fitted to ensure you stop whenever you press the brake pedal. A Vehicle Stability System and Stability Control System make sure that all three wheels stay on the ground and the rider stays in control. The traction control helps get all 100+Nm of torque to the ground via the single rear wheel. The Spyder is no light-weight coming in at 317kg dry. 25 Litres of fuel gives a range of 300km+ of vigorous riding pleasure.
